Antique finish gives a reproduction an oldish look, it is emphasized by the decorative hardware, its choice is judicious. It is fundamental that its hardware recall the same era and that its look also aged. Thes aging techniques are practiced and shown during the course of the seminar on antique finishing.

It is in the smallest details that we acknowledge that a piece of furniture has the dignity to be named a quality antique reproduction. Giving it an oldish effect makes it possible to simulate the wear and tear caused by time. But this would not be so without specialized antique decorative hardware.

When a reproduction is a success, it is not uncommon to look at it and to get caught in trying to guess its history starting with its looks, its scars.

For example, if a piece of furniture has a square head nail, a wooden plug or even wear and tear on the contours of an handle, we can then imagine that the coveted piece could have many nice past years of life.

The marks judiciously affixed on the furniture will in fact be aging signs left by time and the multiple uses done of it.

When we talk of traditional hardware, an antique reproduction must include, for example, rolling hinges and rat-tails. The handles will be turned with wood or metal. A lot of hardware reproductions are available.
